Historic Heart of Paris

This is the post for Monday, 10/13.

For Monday, we learned how to use the Metro. We had some experience already with Sharon who learned it the last time she was here. But our tour guide Elisabeth, had additional points and explanations on how to use the maps that are posted everywhere. If you know where you want to go, it is pretty straight forward.

We took the Metro to Notre Dame. All of the group made it off at the correct stop. Elisabeth gave us a tour of the inside and then we walked to Sainte Chapelle. Afterwards we had lunch at Le Parvis near Notre Dame.

After lunch we walked to the Latin Quarter and took a tour of the Cluny Museum. We were then free till 6PM to do whatever we wanted for the rest of the day. We went back to the hotel and did laundry.

At 6, Elisabeth did a wine tasting which included bread and cheese. Excellent.

Afterwards we went down the street to the La Varangae (one of Rick Steves' favorites) for entertainment and an excellent Boeuf Bourgonnone. A large number from our group ended up there also. The place only has 24 seats.

First view the Notre Dame
