The big event of the day was a trip to Giverny.
From our Hotel, we took the Metro to the Gare St. Lazare where we caught a train to Vernon. We missed breakfast at our Hotel so we got a little bite to when we arrived at Vernon. We then shared a taxi to Giverny.
We planned on an early lunch but we had to kill a little time. We walked around the town and saw Monet's tomb, the church where the tomb was and the garden behind the Restaurant Baudy where we were planning on having lunch.
At the Restaurant Baudy we ate outside and had an amazing lunch outside.
We took a shuttle back to the train station but we missed an earlier one. We had to kill some time so we walked around Vernon. The train was then delayed so we didn't get back to Paris until almost 8:PM. We had planned on going back to the room and then to diner but instead figured out how to take the Metro to the restaurant. We went to the Chartier. As expected, there was a line out the alley and onto the sidewalk. Think of lines at Disneyland. But it moved quickly and the gentleman who was controlling the line was most entertaining. We had a great table close to the action.
And back to the hotel.
I see you did get to the artist's cottage behind the Boudy. Giverny is so beautiful. I see they are still writing on the tablecloth at the Cartier.
ReplyDeleteMonet's Garden is just lovely in the fall - nice comparison to our springtime visit! The brand of wine at the Chartier sure looks familiar.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures of the gardens!!
